"Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him." Romans 6 : 8 - 9
"One of my favorite teachers. Never raised her voice, and you could hear a pin drop in her room. She demanded your attention but in a way that made you love and respect her. I learned a lot from Mrs Eyres. She was special!"
"One of the most distinguished and learned members of our staff in those days, I'd say. A true lady, of class and dignity. I don't believe I ever saw her rattled."
"She was the best example of an excellent teacher. She went the extra mile to help any student who was willing to be helped. I loved loved loved her! I so hope my kids in my class say that about me one day. She has always been my favorite and yes, she was strict for our good."
A woman who followed her true calling to teach! I was so impressed with her quiet strength. She knew her purpose and gleaned the utmost respect from her students. The results were tangible from all who were recipients of her instruction - a focus on turning what she taught into knowledge - the goal of every class. What a lady!
I underscore all the above comments, and would like to add that she was the reason I chose to be an English teacher. I remember well the delight and relief when she returned to our classroom after a short absence. Though her time at DC was short, it was one of the most influential on my life in many ways.
